After such a busy week with hospitals and lots of early mornings, we ditched the idea of a big walk, as it requires a lot of planning and driving. So sun shining we head out for just down the road from us.

Straight away we spot the deers having some lunch, and feeling at ease. We drive slowly to admire them, and then off to park up and go for an amble.

Lots of landscape changes being made for wildlife, and lots of bushcraft huts that the kids have made over the years.

The river is crystal clear and the skies are blue, what a beautiful spring day, that shows us the Equinox is nearly here (Sunday 20th March) and tonight is a full moon. It’s been great to get out and clear the cobwebs away.

We stop for donuts and cider and get catching to the local Robin. We met a lovely couple and got chatting, so nice to come across young couples that are full of beans for the place. It is a stunning place.

We finish off our day with a trip to the chippie, for a mixed meat kebab chips and salad. It’s so big we only buy 1 to share, yet have a plate full each which we never finish, so save it for the next day, so technically we get 4 meals out of 1 Kebab.

We managed to get a walk in before this hectic week staying in for hospital appointments, and what an epic walk it was!!

The only non rainy day we snatched it while we could, so it’s 9 days after the previous walk, so hoping the Right hip behaves, but we made sure that it had no Stiles and not much elevation.

We wandered off our track hunting out a stone, and we got more than we bargained for. Discussing adders and how we never see them, Mr Moon only nearly stood on one!!

And then luckily we didn’t disturb him too much and proceeded to run into a herd of Deer. Thank goodness the wind was blowing towards us, so we managed to see them well.

We sat and ate cheese and onion sandwiches, drank a beer and thoroughly loved seeing the views and people walking, we even caught a glimpse of a fighter jet, certainly heard it first!! This has to be one of the best walks ever!!

Managed to see small waterfalls, I was sad I hadn’t brought my crystals to cleanse, but we didn’t expect water on this route. We ended the day with Mr Moon taking a photo for a couple, as he’s a good one like that.

Even though the Hand Surgeon appointment was cancelled, I still have a full week of hospitals, and doctors. First we have Physiotherapy at Cannock Hospital, to check on progress and discuss anything else. Then it’s Smear test day on Wednesday and Thursday I’m back to Cannock Hospital for Occupational therapy.

Which will mean staying in this week and potently no big walk. So instead it’s a bone cleaning week. ie pop them into some biological washing powder for a good amount of time, before scrubbing with a wire brush.

On a local small walk we found some feathers as well, so need to clean them up ready for our Steampunk hat. They will look perfect.

And we also picked up a lot of broken glass and ropes from either climbers or bivvy set ups, and took them away to bin, and fluff up the ground to make sure the tiny glad shards were buried. We’ve recently been collecting rubbish from walks when we can.

We also found hints of secret local witches which makes my heart sing. Spotted some pentagrams over the water.

I love the tarot, and oracle decks especially if it’s unusual, dark and unique. So here is a mini collection of all the Decks I wish to own one day.

Obviously had to add the last 2 from Deviant Moon as I’m a huge fan and have 4 various decks of his already, and with many more to lust after in the future as I’ve seen more are being released next year!!

And before anyone asks, NO you can never have too many decks…..

It’s Krampus season as we’ve passed the 5th December, so what better way to celebrate, than with creepy Christmas films.

Frustrated by the constant quarrel between the members of his dysfunctional family, Max loses interest to celebrate Christmas, awakening Krampus, a demon who will punish his entire family.

My favourite film ever, raging gingerbread men, bouncing elves, murderous krampus!!

With holidays around the corner, Riley and her friends prepare for a Christmas party. But when a masked stalker targets girls and goes on a killing spree, they decide to fight back.

Never saw this before, so glad we watched it. Nice slasher with a twist I never saw coming.

The legendary St Nicholas comes to life under a full moon and terrorises Amsterdam by trying to kill as many Dutch children as possible at Christmas time.

Creepy but gory, as well as camp, totally enjoyed this krampusnacht. Loved every second of this, we need a sequel for sure.

Not even Santa Claus is safe from the evil that descends on Bailey Downs, a small town that is suddenly plagued with malevolent spirits, zombie elves and Krampus — the anti-Santa Claus.

4 stories in one, bit odd to follow, but passed the time nicely. Suitably creepy.

For most of this week, I’ve used walking as my sole physio exercise. As well as trying to add more day to day chores and daily living. For 2 walks I wore a shoe lift (blue hard one) and it does help my confidence and lower back pain.

But I’m mindful that my surgeon and this other Top surgeon in a youtube video (click link) https://youtu.be/jTXS93xcIt0 both say to give it a year. So I definitely spend more time walking without a lift, and always always do my physio at home barefooted.

Using a walking stick, or walking pole, I feel I’m planting my feet more, and relying less on a mobility aid, which in turn has freed up the rib pain, and shoulder crunching. So that’s all good. But I do tire quickly, and hip is swelling up, with a white hot burning groin pain. Thankfully after rest it does settle down.

When I think back to the previous hip, I’m definitely walking better and earlier than that side. Thanks to being able to re read my older posts (2019 Jan onwards) I get to really compare the two surgeries.

Sadly I’ve been getting extra thigh pain in the opposite hip, but the weather temperature has dipped so could it just be the metal being cold and aching more?? Certainly haven’t over worked them for the last week. Or is this a side effect of walking unevenly? Like my lower back. Feeling a tad lost. Next physio appointment is 29th November. And a Micats physio appointment not until 23rd Dec (this is meant to be urgent intensive physio appointment)

New boots and new coat, I’m ready to get walking for physio. I still lumber along with the height difference. But I’m attempting to walk with a walking stick rather than crutch.

Armed with the hard shoe lift, to relieve my lower back pain (naughty I know, but I’m desperate) we set off to find a waterfall. The sound and view of waterfalls are just so calming.

Some steps I tried bad leg first, to try and build up some strength. But probably ended up using the good leg a lot more.

Grateful that my walking buddy understands I have to stop a lot, as well as sit down a lot, to be able to do these small walks. And who doesn’t enjoy a Pot Noodle in a huge forest with no one around except you and your loved one!!

It drizzled some rain, but it never bothered us. We found some fairy glen styled areas, and just fell in love with the place. A beautiful time of year to visit, with a carpet of pine needles, orange and yellow leaves falling down like confetti, it’s so romantic.

I’m forever grateful to be offered to go on holiday with my eldest daughter and her husband, and daughter. So me and Mr Moon are off to a place we’ve never been before. Northumberland.

A lodge that has No WIFI or network coverage, so that means no podcasts for me unless I download first lol. And some stunning scenery to soak up and distract us, as honestly it’s been hard going lately (grief just sneaks up on you and pokes the bear all the time) so distraction and occupying ourselves is what is helping at the moment.

Hoping to get some physio walks in, find some waterfalls and just ground ourselves with some big skies, stargazing and earth energies. I’ve bought some new walking boots especially for this. And I’m aiming to get to use a walking stick rather than crutch. Fingers crossed.

Upon discovering the #YorkGhostMerchants this year, I also found out they do a Ghost Hunt week at the half term where they hide ghosts and between 6 to 8pm you travel around the town to look for them, one ghost is allowed to be taken and kept!!

Also with this ghost week we are allowed to visit Mansion House free for the basement, and 25% off for upper floors. York city itself also does lots of free things to explore and discover, so using the Quest App we are armed and ready to go Ghost Hunting.

After settling down, eating some dinner and fueling ourselves with delicious coffee, it was time to brave York city. Crutch and Shoe lift in place, and topped up with pain killers too. Excited but I have to realise I probably won’t get to find one, but have fun looking.

I had wanted to visit the shop, but I am realistic with my body, and I knew there was no way I could stand and queue for hours. Sad but true. One day perhaps not when the schools are off and on an eventful week too. Next time shop I will visit.

Following our busted Ghost Hunt, we opted for some spooks easy to find. Gorgeous wire sculptures in the gardens to be found.

Found the Mansion House to view the special 1000 ghost residents. So beautiful

We finished off our crazy two days with some Roman wall walking, and loving the old buildings, little Snickets, and shop windows, especially nice once all the crowds had died down.
