Day 25 skincare routine

Now it’s no surprise that I’ve not really been into skincare as such since surgery, as standing at the mirror and sink, is harder than you think.

I have however been using quick and easy holy grails, such as the #NipFab Dragons blood cleansing pads (these are a godsend)

Quick easy and fuss free pads, make my skin feel refreshed, super clean and nurtured too.

I use one of these two after the #NipFab depending on time of day, so daytime I opt for the #Ren Evercalm Day cream, a thicker creamy moisturizer, feels spa like and with essential oils.

Then in the evening #Inkey Hyaluronic Acid Serum for that super hydrating feel that can sit on the skin all night. This is my favourite of all time!!

A while back I would this cream on a competition held by a fellow beauty blogger. And this balm is an absolute lifesaver. I’ve used on my husband’s burnt fingers and I’m currently using on my scar! It’s thick like vaseline, it creates a protective barrier that’s waterproof, while healing the scar too. It’s a dream.

For lips and dry patches on heels, and it’s lovely. Usually lip balms for me make you use them continuously after the first go. But this one, you can use once, and your lips don’t go super dry afterwards. It’s solid version of #Palmers Cocoa Butter.

For my legs, the compression stockings cause such reptile skin, constantly dry and flaky skin. I use #Ameliorate Exfoliating Cream, I once got it in a subscription box, and then because I loved it so, my husband bought me a larger one for my birthday in July. I’ve deliberately saved it until now to use. And it’s perfect for this post surgery recovery. A touch of pampering when you feel so dull and drained.

My review

I was seriously impressed with this box it’s a one off payment and it cost £20 and the contents are worth a lot more, they say £52 which I think is about right. Good deluxe or travel size, and I’m looking forward to trying them all out.

Totally bought as a hospital/surgery pick me up, as I spotted the dry shampoo, and shower gel, and perfume, those with the headband turned my head to buy. Everything else a bonus to me x

Oh my days, what a BOX!! I totally spoilt myself sorry hubby! I bought this in July for birthday month treats. I could not resist.

Look at it… How many items?! 13 products!! And a #BeautyPie 24hr pass. (This i don’t think I’ll use, but you never know?)

#Hask Conditioning Masks in Monoi Coconut Oil and Charcoal with Citrus Oil I can’t wait to try these out, and though a sachet it’s a large sized pair.

#JimmyChoo The Original Perfume and it’s tiny as sample perfumes are!! Wish they did do slightly bigger ones, but it is beautiful and perfect for a night out.

#Batiste who doesn’t love this rescuing dry shampoo? I often buy cheaper versions, so it’s nice to have the dear one in a box, always comes in handy!

#Starskin 7 second morning mask, 7 in 1 miracle skin mask pads, who doesn’t want a miracle in the morning? One stop massage, exfoliator, toner, serum, moisturizer, mask and make up primer.

#SanctuarySpa purifying charcoal bubble sheet masks, detoxifying and purifying masks, heavenly!!

#MatteMeMetallic lip cream giving it a foil like finish, I got a beautiful deep burgundy red.

#SoapAndGlory Righteous Butter Mini a perfect staple body cream to seriously buff up those pins this summer!

#PercyAndReed Perfectly perfecting wonder overnight recovery, I definitely need this, pop it on and sleep while it does all the hardwork with my lacklustre hair, yes please.

#Carmex I confess I’ve never tried this before, and wow that wasn’t what I expected?! Smell definitely Herby, strange taste, but weirdly addictive.

#Missguided Babe Power perfume again teeny tiny sample size, but it’s enough for a day and it smells summery and light. #Wilkinson Quattro sensitive razors, always needed and used, always enjoyed as the legs feel smoother and softer using these ones.

#Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water I use these when I’m out of cleansing balms (my new faves) and I do love how quick they get the make up off, even my waterproof #fairydrops mascara.

Last but NOT least #Wunderz Wunderbrow Holey moley I’m so so grateful for this product. I have seriously thin and gappy eyebrows, mainly from steroids I’ve lost hair, and constantly have to fill them in, or look a haggered mess on no make up days, and I hate photos with out my brows filled in, well this has answered all my prayers. You pop it on, let it dry and you have eyebrows for a few days!! Even when I cleanse my face for 2 nights they don’t budge!! I can not and will not ever live without this brand and product ever again. Total convert, Goodbye powders and pencils, this is the bees knees and worth my WHOLE box for how it makes me feel on no make up days.

#Elemis Superfood Facial Wash. I love facial washes and Elemis so this is brilliant.

#ChristopheRobin Cleansing Volumising Paste. Bit of luxury for my hair, so I’m keen to try this out, in a pamper session.

Wild card #Studio10beauty Liquid Foil I Radiance which is glittery goddess loveliness.

#VitaLiberata Self Tanning Tinted Lotion just what this Casper the ghost needs.

My favourite product is #Rituals Dao Body Cream to help keep my skin nourished and silky to the touch.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box #April

Archive, Beauty Boxes, Blogger Reviews, Events, Make Up, Beauty, Skincare

After cancelling #Glossybox as it was repeating too many times for me. I embarked on a 3 mths subscription of #LookFantastic as I’d seen #HollySurgeon blog about march’s box, you can visit it here

And I was blown away!! I too blogged about it, the quality and brands were outstanding. Now I obviously understand they can’t do that every month, so I knew this one would be more sparse.

However I was not disappointed at all. Exactly the opposite. I had an Elle magazine included that’s worth £4.40

Included in this box is #DrBotanicals Vegan Bergamot + Poppy Seed Exfoliating Bar that’s is 100g RRP £19.90 and honestly that is my box’s worth right here!! It smells divine, and I’m hoping it won’t be as messy as traditional scrubs.

#Nuxe Crémé Hydratante 48hr and for 15ml it’s £8.25 as it’s RRP £16.50 for 30ml I tried this out immediately and it’s absolutely amazing, soft, nourishing and delicately scented.

Super excited to spot a #Glamglow Supermud in here and yes it’s slightly disappointing that it’s only 15g but that’s still worth £12.60 as a 50g is RRP £42.00 saving this for a special pamper night.

Then the only make up product is a #Pur Super Charged Mascara which at 4ml the average price to buy seems to be around £6.00 and I actually need a new mascara so I’m keen to get trying it out.

#EmmaHardie Cleansing Balm 15ml I found this size on M&S site for £5.00. Recently I’ve really been loving these cleansing balms and I can’t afford Emma Hardie full sized, so it’s a lovely introduction to her products, and I must say it’s heavenly. So definitely saving for posher days.

Lastly but not least there’s #Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads, there’s only 10pads and that works out around £2.60 as it’s usually 60pads for £12.95. Again I used immediately and I loved that extra cleaned and toned face feeling. I’m definitely a convert, and I’ll have to see how to get them into my skincare routine.

The booklet gives you all the details of each product, and how to use them. Additionally they have articles on how to awaken your skincare routine, a guide to vitamins, a guide to Glamglow as a brand. And lastly some DIY masks you can make at home, and to Detox your make up brushes.

And right at the end, there’s a sneak peek of what’s to come next month and it’s #avant anti-ageing serum RTP £20 so that’s exciting!!

Facial oils

Archive, Beauty Boxes, Blogger Reviews, Events

*contains a product given to try, but I wasn’t asked to blog or advertise them in any way, all opinions are my own*

I’m new to the world of facial oils, and it started with a Beauty kitchen one in a gift set, since then I’ve received one in a #glossybox bought one and gifted one. And ALL are amazing in their own way.

#BeautyKitchen highly scented and not for everyone. (I can’t put on at night as the scent keeps me awake) plus it’s heavy oil so I have to pat excess off. The results are beautiful nourished soft skin though. Really velvety finish. Reasonable amount around 15ml bottle so travel sized, only need a few drops for the whole face and neck. I got this as a Christmas present in a set, so I don’t know the price.

Next in the small bottle is #DrBotanicals which was in my January Glossybox. This is delicate, fresh and feminine as it’s roses. But it does feel like water in comparison to Beauty Kitchens defined oil feel. So it’s easy to use more, it’s thin so face drinks it up immediately, so face doesn’t feel greasy afterwards. Light scent that soon goes unnoticed. Travel size is approx 15ml RRP £17.95 this is the dearest oil, so I doubt I’ll ever purchase. But it is lovely, and I’m grateful that glossybox gives us the chance to use premium products for a low monthly cost. I use this when I’m feeling like I need a treat, and I use sparingly.

Here are the 30ml bottles and first up is #TheOrdinary which was my current favourite, it’s a Rosehip oil so quite orange, heavy oil, face feels very slick, so pat off excess when I can, so it’s not all over my clothes or bedding. But I use this nightly, it’s so affordable, well under £10 for 30ml again a few drops is all that’s needed, it’s thick but goes a long way. However the CEO of #Deciem is messy, and I’m personally not sure I can support a brand like that. Products are good I can’t lie, but will I repurchase?? I’m not sure I can.

Then we have newcomer #Sofialipbalm a fellow blogger and friend, this bottle was gifted, but not for anything other than honest feedback to her personally. But I couldn’t do a facial oil post without adding her, as I was seriously impressed. It’s somewhere between #DrBotanicals and #TheOrdinary for me. It’s a delicate and feminine jasmine scent so no sleep interrupted for me. I can use nightly and it’s not orange so I don’t fear my clothes like I do with #TheOrdinary it also sits less on the face than #BeautyKitchen and #TheOrdinary so no excess patting off.

All are actually incredible, lovely results on the face, and I’m love that I have them. My downside to #DrBotanicals is I’ve had since Jan but half is gone already as it’s so watery, so no value for money!!

#BeautyKitchen downside is that the scent is a bit much for me at times, some scents cause insomnia for me such as lavender being a big one for me.

#TheOrdinary downside the boss of the brand is controversial, the oil is thick and orange, definitely don’t wear your favourite Pjs. Needs excessive patting off, as face is greasy hours and hours later.

#SofiaLipBalm downside well I actually haven’t got one, hopefully it’s easy to get hold of. As this I think if price is good, will be my replacement for the ordinary one.

Feeling old

Archive, Challenges, Randoms, Miscellaneous, Make Up, Beauty, Skincare

Now I’m over 40, I’ll be honest, I’ve REALLY really been feeling my age. And even my mortality too. Perhaps I need to grow up, start acting like life isn’t forever. After seeing friends pass, celebrities too that aren’t far off my own age, has started to freak me out. Obviously hip issues don’t help either, as pain and immobility aren’t actually a youthful combination.

So I’ve started to tweak some things in my life, to help ease the transition into middle age. I’d like to fight it off as long as possible. Immobility I’m addressing with physio, and basic workouts on Xbox kinnect, and free weights too.

I’ve started to eat fruits, salads, and more veggie dishes. Starting to cook a lot more from scratch again. So even if they are pizzas, it’s lower cals, fresh ingredients, and salt.

These little things make me feel a bit more productive and less old. Whether it’s placebo or actual results, if it helps then it helps.

I’ve also started to actually pay attention to my skin too, usually I’m slap dash, bog standard moisturizer and cleansing wipes are my go too. But now I’m buying and using an array of products, to rid myself of that grey lacklustre dry skin once and for all. I will blog about these at a later date, so I feel I have actual results to say about. Currently using #StIves blemish control exfoliating face cream, the deciem Lactic Acid, and deciem Rosehip facial oil.

With oils though, I’m comparing #BeautyKitchen #Deciem #DrBotanicals and newcomer #SofiaLatif

So any advice for this gal to fight aging, to feel that hedonistic vibe instead of impending doom??

The Ordinary Skincare I’ve been loving

Archive, Make Up, Beauty, Skincare

Hey guys, this post is about my skincare products I’ve recently bought. After months of normal exfoliating my face, a persistent dry flaky patch on my nose, would consistently make my foundation textured. It drove me nuts!! So I pleaded with my beautiful blogger friends for their advice, as they around my age, and have tried everything and anything too. And I trust their opinions. And overwhelmingly the answer was THE ORDINARY.

Now I’d seen these floating about, I’d wanted to try them before, but hadn’t got round to it yet, so now was the perfect excuse. And even better I had #Glossybox dots that they now conversation into money to spend on #LookFantastic (you get glossy dots for filling out surveys after each glossybox you receive) and I’d built mine up all year, so I could get 3 products off the website.

I chose the #10%LacticAcid+2%HA for its exfoliating nature, I knew it could be quite stripping, so for my first weeks usage I diluted it with a cleanser. Until I knew my skin would tolerate it. (If you knew me in real life, know that I’m literally allergic and intolerant to everything, from soaps to perfume, to food and wine) after using this for 7days I’ve really started to notice a smoother cleaner look to my foundation, so this is clearly working. I’ve been using for a week, then taking days off, then back to it again, so my skin has a break too. I will definitely be repurchasing this, I love it. Smell is fine, texture is thin but only need a little amount.

To finish off my evening routine of using the Lactic Acid one I then top it off with the #ColdPressedRoseHip Seed Oil to moisturise my skin, it’s very oily so I do all this at night, so it has all night to soak in and feel the benefit. Skin stays shiny all evening, but it’s so worth it. It feels luxurious, soft and smooth. There’s definitely a difference. It’s a thick texture, only need 3 drops, smell is pleasant to me. Definitely repurchasing.

Now that I had the evening routine settled, I was also happy with daytime cleansing. For my third product I chose the #Primer I have a love hate relationship with primers, I’ve used #LauraMercier #Rimmel #MakeUpRevolution ones and they don’t always work for me, sometimes they would make the dry flaky nose area worse, or make my make up slip off. So my idea was to try this primer and the skincare, to see if they made a difference. The texture of this is silky soft, and the results are 75% better . So that’s an improvement. Am I convinced it’s better because of primer alone? No, I actually think it’s the skincare products, rather than primer making foundation sit better. But I do like the feel. However I HATE the scent, it smells green, mossy. Thankful that once on the face I can no longer smell it, but opening the bottle is pretty awful. I don’t think I’ll repurchase this because of the smell. * PRODUCT UPDATE* I will be repurchasing, just tried a different primer (one from my glossybox and textured nose is back, so even though the Lactic Acid and Rosehip Oil reduce it, the Primer definitely works to allow foundation to sit better. So that’s me convinced its the one for me!! I’m sold.

As you can see in 2 months I’ve used about a third of each bottle, and they are priced around £6 so if you work them out at £1 per 6 months use available in each one, it’s highly affordable, excellent value for me, and in no way do they feel cheap or nasty. They feel like something you’d pay a lot for. Have you tried them? Which ones? What is your opinion?
