It’s finally here!! After the disappointment of the #LanaDelRey concert being cancelled, we’ve literally counted down the days to this event!! Though now it’s here, I’m nervous due to the coronavirus if I’m honest.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

As the coronavirus situation evolves, the safety and wellbeing of our visitors and staff members is our number one priority.

At this time, the risk to individuals is low and all of our events are going ahead as planned. The guidance from the Government to music fans attending music events in the UK and to anyone involved in tours in the UK is to check with the official Government news sources: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

We will continue to review our policies and procedures in line with updated health advice and guidance. Which at the moment is recommending the use of tissues if you sneeze or cough and regular hand washing. To this end, we have hand washing facilities in all of our venues and additional signage to highlight these best practices and to reassure the public.

The Government has now produced its coronavirus action plan which you can read here. The 28-page document outlines what people can expect across the UK.

More advice on coronavirus and safety precautions can be found on the website of Public Health England here.

So we went

Instead of all we had planned, we are staying at home for the day and only coming out for this event. So no junkyard golf and club crawl beforehand. Gutted but I understand. After tonight the country may be on lockdown with all events cancelled etc.(nope they haven’t decided to do this yet)

So Manchester here we come.

We had pale waves on as an introduction, supporting act. Loved their sound. So I will look for them on Spotify.

Found our seats easily as they were shown to us, We had a great view as well, super impressed.

My only bugbear was everyone stood up, we had seating for disability so thankfully on the end, so could still see, but I spotted others that couldn’t.

The whole thing went so fast, four outfit changes, moving stages, fabulous visuals and fire. It was high energy, delicate at times, emotional in others, raging and fierce, it was a whole journey she took us on.

I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. In fact I didn’t want it to end. We had lots of Artist interaction, and talking too. Felt like it was genuine interaction, rather than staged and forced.

And now that’s me not moving for a week, we are staying in to keep our contact with others to a minimum. I cancelled my physio appointments for a month too.

Week 38 Post #HipReplacement

Archive, Arthritis, Family Adventures, Health, Hips, Hypermobility, Hip replacement

So much has happened in the space of a week, my youngest has been at uni for a week (well more like 10days as this goes live) and let me tell you, that’s been an adjustment for sure, coupled with many tears. Happy ones as I’m proud, but I do so miss her, and worry too. Thank heavens for video calling on whatsapp.

My Left hand injection was over a week ago, still painful memories. Fun Fact: I can hear it grinding when I move it too Ouchie!!

And I’ve helped (bossed and kept company, so not really helping) my second eldest daughter move from Llandudno to Manchester.

All the while, we’ve had horrendous rain, which has hugely increased pains and aches all over. Most notably end of stem aches (mid thigh right leg) and groin right leg, left hand and left ankle. I kinda feel like emigrating to a warm country!! Less pain then. Is this all just Arthritis or Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, either way it’s pretty miserable body wise at times.

Even with the aches and pains, I’m LOVING my hip replacement!! It’s holding up so well, I’m so glad I did it. I struggle at times, but it’s the other hip failing me now.

#Blogmas 2018 Manchester uni and Christmas market part 2

Rain rain rain, certainly has dampened our spirits, soaked us through to the bone, and boots leaked so we had wet soggy feet too.

But nevertheless we braved the weather to hunt down our now favourite tea hotspot, Maccies of course. And if we are doing that, we may as well visit Zippy too.

After McDonald’s we walked to the Albert square to find Zippy and found him in all his glory. Lit up and sparkly, overlooking all the festivities. Scents of hot dogs and mulled wine is wafting through the wooden cabins.

Rain and lights interfered with my photos, so excuse the blurry pics, I was shaking with cold.

Much of the stalls are the same as Birmingham, though clearly more choice on food, with their being Greek, Chinese,Indian food on offer. But NO singer, this really let’s the place down, get a radio station down there, or local singer. It really makes a difference to the atmosphere. Everyone joins in, young and old. Makes the whole market much more alive and festive.

Heading to the shops we barely saw any big shops with lights and themed window displays, which is sad. London is amazing for window displays, and we usually go down this time of year for them alone.

House of Fraser looked good though, so I’m glad I saw that.

Probably the prettiest Indian restaurant wall ever!! How instagramable is this?

With all this cold and rain, it wasn’t long before we decided to call it a day, we’d been out since 11am and we were shattered. Finally got in for 8pm and managed to catch #WorldsStrongestMan on channel 5+1 again, our tradition lives on xx

*Update* she has been accepted by Manchester too. So that’s all three so far!! Woohoo xx

#Blogmas 2018 Manchester Uni and Xmas market part 1

The last leg of our pre Christmas chores. All the interviews have been done now, 1 is booked after Christmas and 1 yet to hear from. But in honesty I think she’s chosen from the 3 already. Chester has always been her number 1.

However we needed a good second choice, so that’s where Birmingham and Manchester come into play. Rather than banking everything on one university.

Its a weird building, has no soul feeling. Way too modern for me. Inside it carries on, yet somehow looks quite 70’s as well. With striking wooden walls and rectangle rooms, it’s modern but old styling to me.

The usual introduction for around 20 mins is first, and parents or friends can join for that part. Afterwards they are asked to leave, while written tasks and group work is done.

All passed pretty quickly, and out of the 3 the least formal of them all. While she was doing this, we should of been in town enjoying the shopping.

However my hip had a whole other idea, it’s a freezing cold day, and extremely wet. So there wasn’t an option for me to do it both day time and after their interviews had finished.

So we stayed in the car, ate a packed lunch, had our own drinks and listened to Christmas tunes on radio one, and time went so fast. Soon we had a message to go and pick her up.

Walking through the student accommodation area, we are more familiar than when we first walked there. Learnt to dodge the lorries on the road ahead,as you get soaked as the puddles have build up and lorries career through them, soaking anyone in their path.

Hard to enjoy this weather, or feel christmassy in it. This time last year we had snow, and though it comes with its own issues, it does instantly make the whole place feel that extra special.

#Blogmas 2018 3 weeks until #HipReplacement

Omg I’m here again, now I just hope beyond all hopes it isn’t cancelled again!!

I’m sort of ready for Christmas, I’ve shopped as much as I can. And we’ve done 3 universities in 3 cities over 3 weeks. We’ve heard from 2 so far and both have offered a place. So hope we will hear off this third one soon too.

With doing these, I can not do physio as well, I’ve tried and it’s been poor form, and extra exhausting. So I’ve admitted defeat for now.

And I can honestly say, from trying to keep up with the tours, and walking, and sight seeing, I’m so glad the hip is going. It’s just a bain of my life. Sat at home I can also convince myself it’s fine, and I’m over reacting getting it replaced. (How many of us do that?)

Recently it’s been feeling more unstable, and achy under my butt scar. The recovery time from one day out, is multiple days of being in sheer agony. The more it slips and hurts, the more I pitch heavily into my walking stick, which is also causing issues in the hands. Vicious circle of pain.

But it’s Christmas, so I can’t be blue!! So less than a week to the big Christmas day, I’m planning on resting as much as I can, but let’s be honest, no one can actually rest this time of year!!

I hope to delegate some jobs to relieve some pains and aches. I’m not cooking this year, as we’ve planned around me already having the hip done. And I didn’t change plans, as it will be pure heaven not to cook and wash up this year.

So nearly time I can put my feet up, and start to enjoy the festive season. How about you??

Ninja Warrior, Weekends, And New Thoughts….

The weekend passed in a haze of recovering from Friday, we were in the audience for #NinjaWarriorUk it was filmed in Manchester Central.

I got tickets for us to watch our favourite show, a bit like a birthday treat for our youngest daughter, to see it live. Never expected it to be as tiring as it was, but though we were knackered it was a lot of fun and an experience.

We definitely shouted ‘Beat the Wall’ a lot!!

Spotted some bees but not too many as we struggled with time sadly, and it was freezing cold this day!!

Hands swelled up and were extremely painful all weekend. This convinces me its more likely to be rheumatoid arthritis.

Hip didn’t behave either and was extremely painful, so it’s definitely time to ask to see if I can start the process of replacement. I’m over trying to wait it out, waiting for life to start, it needs to end or at least give it my all. So roll on next appointment which is Tuesday!! Woohoo. Wish me luck.
