What’s been going on since we last spoke? Well I’ve been wrestling my own demons trying to make a decision, and honestly I’m no closer. I speak to fellow hippies, family and physiotherapist, and ultimately they all say it’s up to me, but I’m confused and overwhelmed.

But warm weather has returned and sadly pain hasn’t gone with the wet weather, so I know for sure now that the steroid injection has worn off, I had a glorious month, I’m just sad it wasn’t longer.

Not only has my hip steroid worn off but so too has my thumb one too, so I’m feeling like most joints and bones ache beyond belief. And the opposite thumb is flaring up too. Thank goodness for splints. Sadly for this I don’t see a rheumatologist until 9th October, so heck of a wait. Least hip is in 2 weeks time.

Because it’s all kicked off again, my physio appointment was gentle this time, lower reps, some exercises removed too, as she could see the pain some brought on. I fear I’m coming to the end of any possible improvement physio wise, as muscles are strong now, stronger than they’ve ever been. I see them again after seeing the Surgeon.

Pleased to say I’ve completed week 4 of #couch25k #couchto5k yes it totally took 3 weeks to do the three runs, but life, flare ups and events filled my time in between. But I’m over the moon we are still on this improvement train, ankles and knees are benefiting from it. Now up to 3mins brisk walking, slight bounce to step unaided. After 3 mins it’s either breathing or piriform is that kicks in, so it’s not fully sustainable, but it’s improving. Only bad thing is, I constantly feel like my hip joint is a sword, each step is a stab!!

Oh my days, what a BOX!! I totally spoilt myself sorry hubby! I bought this in July for birthday month treats. I could not resist.

IMG_20180711_151653_061

Look at it… How many items?! 13 products!! And a #BeautyPie 24hr pass. (This i don’t think I’ll use, but you never know?)

IMG_20180802_212357_056

#Hask Conditioning Masks in Monoi Coconut Oil and Charcoal with Citrus Oil I can’t wait to try these out, and though a sachet it’s a large sized pair.

#JimmyChoo The Original Perfume and it’s tiny as sample perfumes are!! Wish they did do slightly bigger ones, but it is beautiful and perfect for a night out.

#Batiste who doesn’t love this rescuing dry shampoo? I often buy cheaper versions, so it’s nice to have the dear one in a box, always comes in handy!

IMG_20180802_213415_934

#Starskin 7 second morning mask, 7 in 1 miracle skin mask pads, who doesn’t want a miracle in the morning? One stop massage, exfoliator, toner, serum, moisturizer, mask and make up primer.

#SoapAndGlory Righteous Butter Mini a perfect staple body cream to seriously buff up those pins this summer!

#PercyAndReed Perfectly perfecting wonder overnight recovery, I definitely need this, pop it on and sleep while it does all the hardwork with my lacklustre hair, yes please.

#Carmex I confess I’ve never tried this before, and wow that wasn’t what I expected?! Smell definitely Herby, strange taste, but weirdly addictive.

#Missguided Babe Power perfume again teeny tiny sample size, but it’s enough for a day and it smells summery and light. #Wilkinson Quattro sensitive razors, always needed and used, always enjoyed as the legs feel smoother and softer using these ones.

#Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water I use these when I’m out of cleansing balms (my new faves) and I do love how quick they get the make up off, even my waterproof #fairydrops mascara.

Screenshot_20180802-215528

Last but NOT least #Wunderz Wunderbrow Holey moley I’m so so grateful for this product. I have seriously thin and gappy eyebrows, mainly from steroids I’ve lost hair, and constantly have to fill them in, or look a haggered mess on no make up days, and I hate photos with out my brows filled in, well this has answered all my prayers. You pop it on, let it dry and you have eyebrows for a few days!! Even when I cleanse my face for 2 nights they don’t budge!! I can not and will not ever live without this brand and product ever again. Total convert, Goodbye powders and pencils, this is the bees knees and worth my WHOLE box for how it makes me feel on no make up days.

How time is flying by, it’s already been 3 weeks since the hip injection and even 2 weeks since the thumb one too.

Since then I’ve been active on our weekend away, getting into some exercise routines and just generally loving the improvement. Only marred by that in the hip it’s not a total fix. After activity it soon flares up again.

My thumb on the right hand however is awful. As soon as my left had its injection I needed to rely on my right one more, which has caused this one to flare up the same way. So although my left is feeling 90% better, I can’t escape splints and pain because of this stupid one starting up. Roll on rheumatologist appointment and maybe request a steroid in this as soon as possible.

We haven’t done any of our couch to 5k for over 2 weeks simply because real life have taken over and it’s been difficult to fit it in. However I have done physio or weights or that other workout on most days.

Monday we decided to do week 4 run 1 and OMG I felt like I was dying. It’s 3mins run walk for 1.5mins then 5min run walk 2.5mins and repeat once more. In the runs I’m shuffling along as upright as I can, as fast as I can to increase the heart rate and lung functions, and practice my walking unaided. But I soon felt piriformis pain in the back, so waddle returned on the second set. But I’m still impressed, less resting, using uneven ground. The walk is getting straighter.

Tuesday’s physio appointment consisted of

Hip Bridges with Football between knees 25reps

Front leg raise and abduction red banded 25reps

Lie on front, bend knee and lift red banded 25reps

Sitting red band around knees hip abduction 25reps

Swiss ball between knees and squeeze adduction 25reps

Side steps red band around knees 80 steps

Came out barely able to walk!! Combined with Mondays couch to 5k and this physio session I’m done. Feels like walking on a dagger in the joint. And my lower back is aching. Need hot water bottle and rest now.

Had good discussion about a replacement with physiotherapist, but I’m still unsure. Whereas before my steroid injection I was deadly sure, so although the pain isn’t 100% gone it’s obviously improved enough that my mind has changed. Ever mindful that it will wear off soon though.

Wednesday is Mama Moons birthday so all exercise is halted as it’s a day of family and celebrating!! Wish I could spoil her more, but what do you buy the lady that has everything already?

Thursday is #WyattWedding prep, we are invited to our Nephew’s wedding, so of course I had to make some hairpins for myself

Didn’t do my hand any good, but I enjoyed the relaxing craft (though it’s difficult on my hand – right hand, left one still wonderful). Now just to pack and ensure everything is already, and we are all prepared for the next few days ahead.

Nails I’m wearing are #Primark nails as I totally rate them, they are my favourite go to nails. I buy a separate brush on glue 99p from #HomeBargains or #BM and they easily last me a week, usually 2 weeks.

So that’s me I’m 43 weeks post #hiparthroscopy and due to steroid injections I’m enjoying life with some niggles.

My #LookFantastic my box came yesterday, I confess I honestly thought I’d cancelled it. Oh well happy surprise. This month is SOOOOOO much better than last month’s, this came with

#Mádara SOS Hydra Moisture Mask, can’t wait to try this overnight, letting my skin drink it all in while I sleep.

#Elemis Superfood Facial Wash. I love facial washes and Elemis so this is brilliant.

#ChristopheRobin Cleansing Volumising Paste. Bit of luxury for my hair, so I’m keen to try this out, in a pamper session.

Wild card #Studio10beauty Liquid Foil I Radiance which is glittery goddess loveliness.

#VitaLiberata Self Tanning Tinted Lotion just what this Casper the ghost needs.

My favourite product is #Rituals Dao Body Cream to help keep my skin nourished and silky to the touch.

#birchbox 2 for £10 deal

Archive, Beauty Boxes, Blogger Reviews, Events, Make Up, Beauty, Skincare

Now you may remember me telling you about the deal I snapped up with #birchbox where I got the awesome #cathkidston box and a mystery box for £10.

I loved my #cathkidston box enormously!! And I’d spied a #benefit product in there, and it made me very excited. And it was exactly what I wanted. A Hoola!!

Already I’ve used this as a transition shade on my eyes, to contour with and bronzer, an absolute must. I will be re buying this no doubt at all. It’s a matte bronzer so unlike the others, I’m not sparkling, so it looks more sunkissed than fake!!

Then we have a #PercyAndReed No oil oil, it nourishes hair with provitamin B5 and violet extract that protects hair even when heat styling.

Dry Shampoo by #Klorane with oat milk, I know dry shampoo seems a bit meh! But I’m actually chuffed, washing my hair can get too much for me at times, the energy and range of motion needed, I don’t always possess. So dry shampoo can be a chronic pain sufferers friend.

The last two products are a bit blah to me, only because I have these already. But they are good products, and do come in handy too. So though not exciting, I will use them up.

Fast acting Top Coat by #SecheVite it’s one of the leading top coats out there, creates a solid long lasting glossy seal, keeping your manicure looking fresh for days.

This brush cleaner is exclusive for #birchbox which is specially designed with grooves that give brushes a deep but gentle clean.

Style Awards #LatestInBeauty Box

As soon as I saw it I knew I had to buy it, you got to choose 6 products from 60 items chosen. And boy oh boy there are some cracking products to choose as well.

As I was sharing the box with my youngest daughter her blog is here we both chose 3 items each. And all for £25.00 plus postage + packaging. Bargain!!

Choosing was hard I’ll be honest, and I was sad I’d missed the Charlotte Tilbury items. But not to worry too much we did bag ourselves a #Mac lipstick #cloudsinmycoffee

Obviously we both like this, but it’s predominantly my daughter’s top pick. RRP 18.00

I however chose this as my top pick and it’s #DrSebagh serum repair and after two uses I love it, but it’s RRP is £69.00 so no matter how much I love it, I can’t be spending that on it.

Next for my daughter was another joint love product, The Body Shops Matcha Tea Mask RRP £17.00

I hope she will let me try it soon!!

For me my next one was boring but necessary to try. As my leg skin is rough, Extremely dry and could do with love after its many many surgeries. So I chose #Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion RRP £26.00

My daughter loves Tanning, so her last item was perfect for her to try #Sienna 1hr tanning mousse RRP £25.00

My last item is a new found love of mine, a cleansing balm. I’ve tried a few now, such as #BeautyKitchen and #EmmaHardie and this one is #Evelom and for this size it’s RRP at £20.00 but you usually buy it twice this size and at £42.00. another item I won’t be buying as the price bracket is too high for a daily use product.

All in all we got around £175.00 worth of products, so it was too good to miss. You can still find some good products left here. I’m totally impressed, and though they won’t be repurchase products as they are too expensive for me personally, I think others will really love them. It’s a perfect way to try out brands and products you thought were beyond your means and budget.

New hair care #botanicals range #L’oréal

Archive, Blogger Reviews, Events, Make Up, Beauty, Skincare

I have extremely curly bordering on frizzy hair, it’s impossible to control, unless I straighten it. But my poor hubby prefers it curly (I can’t stand it!) But that’s due to its untameable nature.

404ac8f7e328117375a8f05ab4181acd

And on twitter I saw a tweet from a blogger, wish I could remember who it was, state that they bought this range and they got lovely natural curls. They bought the lavender one, but on finding that it states it for thin, fine sensitive hair. Whereas mine is thick, unruly and frizzy. So I spotted the #Camelina one which describes my hair to a tea!!

IMG_20180424_212821_462

So I went to boots and bought the #Shampoo #Conditioner and #FrizzAntidote which is used to tame ends off, when your between washes. This one is infused with a botanical concoction of camelina, soya and coconut oils, the range smooths and softens frizz prone hair with a fresh, exotic aroma. It lathers up nicely, feels silky and creamy. The scent is delicate and faint, but I’m glad.

Screenshot_20180424-214311

It’s pricey though to me, I paid £7 per item or there abouts. So it’s a proper treat for me, and I hope a lovely treat for my hair too.

The test is now, how will my hair be in the morning!?

27 weeks post #hiparthroscopy

Archive, Health, Hips, Hypermobility, Hip Arthroscopy, Triple Pelvic Ost, Femoral Ost, PAO

Moving on from week to week and not much has happened this week, except I’m poorly again!! Just a chesty cough and woolly headedness, so I’ll live.

But I did visit the doctor over my hand, as it’s getting too hard to hold the simplest of things lately. The basal joint of the thumb feels like electric shocks, when I try to hold cups, plates or my phone. It’s been like it on and off for a year or so?? Wonder if Arthritis or just Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Anyways had bloods taken to check, and I’m being referred to MiCats for physiotherapy and steroid injection for it. So that’s 2 steroids in 2 different joints this year!! I need this hand for my walking stick. For now I brace it on bad days, but when it settles I take it off, so it’s not solely dependant on it.

So for physio it’s been PANTS for a week, barely done any, as I’ve had family visits, doctor’s visits, then blood test visits, and honestly they’ve just took it out of me. Just being still hurts so I’ve had no desire to move the hip. Maybe it’s increased on pain because the weather is so damp? Or because it’s that time of cycle when it all flares up (when my whole body feels broken and shattered) or simply being ill makes me feel things more?

Just waiting on blood results next and of course appointments to come through from steroid in hip, physio for hand, and steroid for hand. Can’t wait to get them all done and dusted, though I’m scared!!

#MarchMeetTheMaker Instagram Challenge the end already!!

Archive, Challenges, Randoms, Miscellaneous, Witch, Pagan, Druid, Faery, Spiritual

How I managed it, I’ll never know if I’m honest. I’m never organized and planned, but somehow I puddled through these 31days and completed it.

So first up was Day 22 ~ To do list. Organized. Well I do neither of these things, I’ve learnt over the years, some days I can be productive, others not a chance. So to do lists used to frustrate me and also remind me how disability rules my life. A stark reminder of things I could do, and no longer can. So I wing it.

Day 23 ~ Hands at Work, I’m really struggling with one hand at the moment, we think it’s Arthritis at the base of the thumb, or it could be ehlers danlos syndrome causing issues. So it’s often splinted or braced.

Day 24 ~ Achievement, my biggest one award wise is obviously my #SBS award that #TheoPaphitis created. But my own personal achievement is uniting spoonies around the world with my jewellery. And the greatest achievement is Family!!

Day 25 ~ Being a Maker means, I can wear jewellery that expresses my personality, it’s unique and often a one off piece. A do bespoke pieces and each one as unique as my customer, and always made with love.

Day 26 ~ Books, Podcasts etc…. I read all sorts but lately I’ve been diving back into my Tarot, Reiki and Witchcraft ones

Day 27 ~ Recommend a Maker, first off I recommend Oh Gosh Silver a silver smith that is incredible.

Then I recommend @masquerade_mad on Instagram, she made my queen of hearts headband for my 40th birthday!!

Day 28 ~ Organized, as I’ve said above I’m never Organized. To reduce bending and mobilising I have jewellery making stuff all over the place, rather than one spot. Messy as hell I am.

Day 29 ~ Community is my crafty friends, my spoonie customers, we all support and guide each other.

Day 30 ~ Top Tip, is be kind, to everyone. You never know their story, their demons, their struggles, and stay as positive as possible.

Last Day, Day 31 ~ Creative Friends. I recommend @ripbambi @percycutetees @masatolondon @terrifoss @icedraimbow @strangeling @cardsandcandlesforalloccassions all on Instagram, I personally own pieces from all of them, I speak to them and count them as artists close to my heart.

So there you have it, I’m cluttered, disorganized and I struggle a lot. But each piece I create is with love, care and with the customer in my heart.

First week of #marchmeetthemaker2018

Archive, Challenges, Randoms, Miscellaneous

Yes I’m back at it again, using @joannehawker guide to allow customers, followers etc to see the person behind the makes on their shops.

Now I’m never going to suddenly be a selfie queen, so this challenge actually helps me show myself, without some deranged mad woman’s selfie looking back at you.

Each day has a theme to base your Instagram photo on, some are easy, some hard, and maybe some impossible?!

Day 1 – You, here is me at the last #sbsevent2018

Day 2 – Where, my local town is half olde worlde and modern.

Day 3 – How you started, I started following this surgery, I had a #TriplePelvicOsteotomy and FemoralOsteotomy done at the same time, and was rendered immobile and housebound.

Day 4 – Favourite make, mine is the Gothic style jewellery I did, that also got featured in Shine On Jewellery magazine.

Day 5 – Photography, I honestly have nothing fancy. Occasionally I use a white box, nice surroundings, my child as a model. But always always use my phone as my camera.

Day 6 – Workspace, I don’t have an area just to work on, I’m often doing it on my lap while watching TV. I love that I can do it anywhere. My biggest workspace is really my brain, it all starts here.

Day 7 – Routine, I simply honestly have none. I can’t always make and create as my own body works against me sometimes. So I can only do it, when I can physically and mentally. And everything I do works around pain and limitations.
